COMBAT Aging

Combat the signs of aging and sun damage with this innovative light therapy treatment, leaving you with a more refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful appearance. This treatment uses BBL Forever Young to maintain your youthful skin and healthy glow for years to come!
What to expect

Our anti-aging laser treatment can address multiple issues in the same treatment. Discover a more refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful appearance as signs of aging and sun damage disappear.

At your appointment, your clinician will make you comfortable and review your treatment plan with you. Your eyes will be protected with an eye shield or glasses. This treatment is typically well tolerated, but topical anesthetic is available should you decide that you would like to use it, especially on more sensitive areas. You may feel a quick, warm sensation as the light is delivered to your skin. The length of your procedure depends on the area(s) being treated, typically within 1 hour.

Using the power of light to comfortably and effectively clear redness and brown spots, this treatment will deliver light energy deep into your skin to stimulate and regenerate your skin cells as it addresses overall tone and texture of the skin.

Immediately after treatment you may experience some mild redness and a flushed appearance that will resolve within a few hours. Your treated skin will start to improve after your first treatment and appear smoother and softer, with great improvement to redness and pigmented areas. For pigmented lesions, you will see a gradual darkening of these over time. They will naturally slough off after 7 – 10 days. It is important that you do not pick or scratch at them. Your results will depend on the condition being treated and the number of treatments you will need to achieve correction. There is no downtime after treatment, and you will be able to wear makeup and return to normal activities immediately. You will also be provided with the proper post treatment care materials.

It is important to follow your specific treatment plan, and that you follow all pre- and post-instructions as provided by your clinician. You will be sensitive to sunlight and must avoid direct sun exposure until your skin is fully healed. You will need to wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30+, and you should cover the treated area before heading outdoors.

TREATMENT PREPARATION

Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to and throughout the course of your treatments. You should not have tanned skin from natural light, tanning beds, or even self-tanners/spray tans. Treatment of tanned skin can increase the risk of blistering and/or permanent skin discoloration. Protect the areas from direct sun exposure by wearing protective clothing (hat, visor, etc.) and using a broad-spectrum SPF 30+.

If you have taken Accutane, you cannot be treated until 12 months after the completion of the medication.

Discontinue use of Hydroquinone for at least 2 weeks if fair skinned, 4-6 weeks if dark skinned prior to procedures is important to minimize hyperpigmentation.

Avoid facial waxing, neuromodulator (i.e. Botox) and dermal filler injections 2 weeks prior to any laser treatment.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE

You may not be a good candidate if you have used Accutane in the last 12 months or are using photo sensitizing medications or drugs, or have a history of abnormal response to sunlight. You should not receive this treatment if you are pregnant. You should not have a tan, by way of natural sunlight or self-tanners. If you have an active infection or cold sore, a history of skin cancer (especially malignant melanoma) or a weakened immune system, this treatment may not be right for you. You are also not a candidate if you have a history of keloid scar formation or are a Fitzpatrick Skin Type VI. Your clinician will thoroughly review your health history and contraindications with you prior to treatment.

POST TREATMENT CARE
  • Post treatment discomfort is typically minimal but if the area is very uncomfortable, Tylenol (acetaminophen) OR Advil (ibuprofen) may be used.
  • A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm. This is rarely needed, but if so, usually within the first 4 hours after the treatment.
  • Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect.
  • In the unusual case of crusting of the skin in the treated area, apply an antibiotic ointment (Polysporin) twice a day to the affected areas. Do not pick at these areas, as this may result in infection or scarring.
  • Do not use any other hair removal methods or products on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments (tweezing, waxing and depilatories), as it will prevent you from achieving your best results.
  • Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment as long as skin is intact and there are no signs of blistering.
  • If redness is the target, blood vessels in the deeper layers of the skin absorb the light and the heat, causing damage to the vessels. The vessels are then shut down and the body continues to absorb the destroyed vessel remnants. There may be redness and slight swelling around treated vessels. Often, they appear lighter in appearance and are less defined.
  • Brown patches or spots will look darker and more pronounced immediately following BBL™ treatments. In 2-3 days, these brown areas become even darker and frequently feel scaly like coffee grounds on your skin. Within 1-2 weeks, these dark, scaly areas fall off and leave new, healthy skin behind. No matter how tempting, do not pick or scrub these brown spots — let them come off on their own as this may result in infection or scarring.

Until sensitivity has subsided, PLEASE AVOID THE FOLLOWING:

  • Scented lotions or soaps, deodorants, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha- hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, and avoid loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing.
  • Hot or cold water - wash the area with tepid water
  • Shaving
  • Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine
  • Activities that cause excessive perspiration
RESULTS
It is important that you refrain from using retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids or any other exfoliating products one week prior to receiving this treatment. These products are chemical exfoliators, and thin the skin, which could result in over exfoliation and increased sensitivity when combined with dermaplaning. Please avoid sun exposure prior to your treatment. Sun burned skin cannot be treated. Also avoid any aesthetic injectable services for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. You may arrive to your appointment with light makeup on, but please refrain from using heavy or waterproof eye makeup/mascara that can be difficult to remove.
follow up services
We request that you schedule another treatment 2 - 4 weeks after your initial anti-aging laser treatment. Remember that although you will see some improvement after the first treatment, you may not see full results until several treatments have been completed. The ideal number of treatments varies between patients and depends on desired outcome. Additional anti-aging laser treatments are the responsibility of the patient.
