What to know before and after your specific treatment
Chemical Peels

Pre-Care:
- Avoid laser treatments, filler, wrinkle relaxers and sun exposure for two weeks prior. It is also important to discontinue use of retinoids, retinol and any other exfoliating products 3-5 days prior to treatment.
Post-Care:
-Do not pick at peeling skin. Allow your skin to rejuvenate and heal on its own. Avoid excessive heat (hot water, saunas, etc.) and sweating up to two days after treatment. Avoid use of retinol products up to two weeks prior to your peel, or once your skin has fully healed. Avoid direct sun exposure for 1-2 weeks prior, and make sure to apply your SPF!

MICRONEEDLING
Pre-Care:
- Avoid chemical peels, fillers and Botox/Dysport for two weeks prior
-Avoid sun exposure and wear spf 30+ two weeks prior to treatment
-Avoid laser treatments, hair removal (waxing, tweezing), use of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs, and retinol products one week prior to treatment
-The day of treatment, avoid excessive exercise and do not apply lotions, makeup or other topical products. Wear comfortable clothing before arrival.
Post-Care:
-Do not wash face for at least 6 hours after treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water when cleansing. Avoid washcloths or any abrasive materials as well as any acids or exfoliating products for 3 days post-treatment.
-Moisturize the treated area frequently throughout the days after treatment to help with dryness and tightness
-Avoid strenuous exercise 3 days prior to treatment
-Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, filler and wrinkle relaxers two weeks post-treatment

PRIOR TO TREATMENT:

-Discontinue use of retinols and prescription retinoid products two days prior and two after after your treatment.
-Avoid any type of exfoliating treatments such as glycolic acid or enzymes for two days prior and two days after treatment
-Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or use of hair removal creams in the area(s) to be treated for two days prior.
-Discontinue use of benzoyl peroxide products, hydroquinone, or any other product that can cause dryness, redness or irritation two days prior to and two days after treatment.
AFTER TREATMENT:
-Avoid heat (hot showers, sauna, and intense cardio) for up to 24 hours after treatment.
-Avoid use of exfoliating treatments (glycolic acid or enzymes), over-the-counter acne medications (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and prescriptions retinoid products for at leawst 48 hours after treatment.
-Continue use of SPF 30+ at least 30 minutes prior to sun exposure and repeat every two hours.
-Avoid any medium and/or deep chemical resurfacing treatments an laser treatments for 2 weeks after your HydraFacial.

HAIR REMOVAL
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
PRIOR TO TREATMENT:
-The area(s) of treatment should be freshly shaved and cleaned before arriving to your appointment. There should be little to no stubble when treating unwanted hair.
-Avoid any other method or product to remove hair (waxing, tweezing, bleaching).
-Minimize sun exposure, tanning beds and spray tans for at least 4 weeks before treatments.
-Medications containing aspirin or anti-inflammatories should be avoided for a couple of days before and after treatment. Opt for Tylenol or another pain reliever which contains no aspirin or ibuprofen, if needed.
AFTER TREATMENT:
-Post treatment discomfort is typically minimal, but if the area is uncomfortable, Tylenol (acetaminophen) may be used along with Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, and/or a cold compress may provide topical comfort.
-Avoid heat (hot showers, saunas and hot tubs) 24 hours after.
-Avoid sun exposure for 7-14 days following your treatment. Use SPF of 30+ to any area that may be exposed to sunlight.
-Avoid scented lotions, soaps, deodorants, and exfoliant creams.
-Avoid other methods of hair removal (waxing, shaving, tweezing) between treatments.
-For best results: Schedule your next laser hair removal appointment 6-8 weeks after your last treatment.

PRIOR TO TREATMENT:
-Avoid the use of alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.
-Notify your provider if you are using prescription blood thinners or aspirin.
-Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing or use of hair removal creams in the area of treatment.
-Avoid sun exposure prior to your treatment.
-Eat a small snack before your appointment.
AFTER TREATMENT:
-Refrain from straining, heavy lifting and vigorous exercise for at leawst 24 hours following treatment.
-Avoid use of active skincare products for 24 hours after treatment to avoid increased irriation or redness.

At SKN BAR Rx, we bridge the gap between day spa and a traditional medical environment. Providing you with an inviting, modern experience with top-of-the-line medical treatments. Tips are welcomed, but not expected.
We recommend reserving your treatments 2-4 weeks in advance. This allows you to reserve your preferred day and time while providing enough time to make any adjustments to your current routine before treatment.
For general skin treatments, we recommend every 2-4 weeks for best results. For more in-depth treatments, 4-6 weeks. And for injectables, every 3-4 months or whenever you feel the benefits wearing off or decreasing.
We provide every new patient a complimentary consultation to go over specific skin concerns and conditions. Our aestheticians will provide you with recommendations to treat concerns guide your skin journey.
We understand things come up! If you need to cancel, please do so 24 hours in advance. We value our provider's time, which is why we enforce a $100 cancellation fee for appointments that are not cancelled 24 hours in advance.

Yes! We offer a few pregnancy safe options. Our PHA Chemical Peel, as well as Ultraceuticals Lactic or Mandelic Acid peels.
Retinol accelerates cellular turnover, and is a derivative of Vitamin A. Receiving treatments with retinol products or using retinol at home greatly improves skin texture, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, helps treat acne, and lightens pigmentation. Be sure to always use an SPF when using retinols.
We offer a complimentary recovery kit for our Microneedling treatment. All other treatments will have recovery products available for purchase in store.
Dermaplaning is available as an add on, may be added to any service you have booked. We do not offer standalone dermaplane.
The clear and brilliant laser is safest for all skin tones, ranging from fair to deep.
We recommend the BBL heroic laser facial to specifically target pigmentation and redness.
