What to expect

Your aesthetic specialist will assess the condition of your skin and provide you with a customized treatment plan. During your treatment, your skin will be appropriately cleansed and prepared. This chemical peel uses lactic acid to chemically exfoliate the top layer of the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing plump and dewy skin. Naturally derived from fermented sugar, lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that hydrates and firms and reduces wrinkles and pigmentation. During your peel, you will feel a slight tingling, itching or heat sensation on your skin as the active ingredients begin to work. After your peel, your skin will be replenished and hydrated, and protected with an SPF. The lactic acid peel is tolerable and leaves the skin looking fresh and vibrant. It also increases the efficacy of your medical grade skincare products, by boosting their absorption.

This treatment is suitable for dryer skin types, and those experiencing their first signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation. It is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I - IV.

TREATMENT PREPARATION
It is important that you refrain from using retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids or any other exfoliating products one week prior to receiving this treatment. Please avoid sun exposure prior to your treatment. Sun burned skin cannot be treated. Also avoid any aesthetic injectable services for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. You may arrive to your appointment with light makeup on, but please refrain from using heavy or waterproof eye makeup/mascara that can be difficult to remove.
WHO IS NOT SUITABLE

You are not a candidate for this treatment if you are on Accutane or other skin sensitizing medications. You should not have a sunburn, an open wound in the treatment area, a cold sore, active rosacea or psoriasis/eczema. If you are allergic to any of the peel ingredients this treatment is not right for you. You are not a candidate if you are undergoing cancer treatments or radiation therapies. Your aesthetic provider will thoroughly review your health history and contraindications with you prior to treatment.

POST TREATMENT CARE

Following post-care guidelines is crucial to the health of your skin and success of your results.

  • Best results are achieved when you follow your recommended at home regimen of medical grade skincare products and the daily use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30+.
  • You may experience mild redness and flaking, but not always. This does not mean that the treatment was ineffective.
  • Please AVOID the use of retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids or any other exfoliating or corrective products (such as Vitamin C) for one week after receiving this treatment to avoid any increased sensitivity or irritation.
  • Avoid any waxing or laser treatments for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Please do not engage in vigorous exercise or excessive heat (saunas, steam baths, hot showers) or swimming pools for 48 hours after treatment.
  • We do not recommend applying makeup immediately after treatment. The following day you can wear makeup. Mineral makeup is less sensitizing than traditional makeup, and you may experience better results with it.
  • You may receive injectable services 72 hours after this appointment if you would like.
RESULTS
It is important that you refrain from using retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids or any other exfoliating products one week prior to receiving this treatment. These products are chemical exfoliators, and thin the skin, which could result in over exfoliation and increased sensitivity when combined with dermaplaning. Please avoid sun exposure prior to your treatment. Sun burned skin cannot be treated. Also avoid any aesthetic injectable services for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. You may arrive to your appointment with light makeup on, but please refrain from using heavy or waterproof eye makeup/mascara that can be difficult to remove.
follow up services
There is no follow up appointment for this service that is needed, but a series of appointments are typically recommended every 4 weeks for best results. Your provider will assist and advise in coordinating additional chemical peel treatments with any other aesthetic or injectable services to ensure you receive optimal results with efficacy of concurrent treatments.
