What You Need to Know About The HALO Resurfacing Laser Facial
Your skin is your largest organ, one that can be improved and enhanced. At SKN BAR RX, we offer many services that can treat multiple concerns at once. One service in particular, the HALO Resurfacing Laser, is an incredible option for those who require a multifaceted skin treatment plan.

This means that with just one service, we can address a variety of skin-related concerns. If you want to diminish wrinkles and fine lines, improve the appearance of your skin, enlarged pores, and sun damage, reduce visible signs of aging, and even out any discoloration — you may want to consider learning more about the HALO and why this is the next best service to add to your treatment plan!

The HALO is the world’s only Hybrid Fractional Laser. It precisely targets years of skin damage and the visible signs of aging by combining deep dermal revitalization with epidermal renewal. It does this by delivering both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment zone. Unlike other fractional lasers on the market, the hybrid aspect of the HALO means minimum downtime, less risk, singular treatments, and noticeable results. Lasers that utilize non-ablative wavelengths alone would require multiple treatments with subtle results. Lasers the utilize ablative wavelengths alone would require longer downtime with more risk. Thus, combining these two types of wavelengths gives you the best of both worlds with breathtaking results after just one HALO treatment.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

The HALO triggers the skin’s natural healing response. Through this healing process you will see dramatic improvements in the overall appearance of the skin. Specifically, you will notice a significant:

      • Removal of discoloration
      • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and visible pore size
      • Improved skin reflectively
      • Restoration of a youthful glow.

While needs may vary from patient to patient, these results are typically achieved with just one treatment. Occasionally, more than one treatment may be recommended, depending on the skin’s condition and desired results. HALO may also be combined with other laser treatments to achieve your best outcome. Whether you are having an aggressive or mild treatment, the downtime remains the same. As aesthetic goals vary by patient, we are pleased to offer complimentary laser consultations to address your customized plan.

PREPARING FOR YOUR HALO LASER FACIAL

Prior to your treatment, you will need to avoid sun exposure for a minimum of three weeks. Before your treatment, you will use a topical numbing agent that will be removed after 1 hour. This will help alleviate sensitivity and discomfort while the service is being performed. Your Aesthetic Nurse provider with again thoroughly review the procedure steps and expectation. Your questions will be answered, and post-care instructions thoroughly reviewed so that you are confident, comfortable, and ready to begin your HALO laser experience. The treatment will be performed while you are relaxed, lying down. HALO treats the face one section at a time with a rolling crisscross pattern. While the face is commonly treated, the HALO laser can also be used elsewhere on the body. Other commonly treated areas include the neck and chest. These areas tend to mirror the aging and sun damage concerns as on the face. Other areas that can also be evaluated for treatment during your consultation.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR HALO LASER FACIAL

Immediately after treatment you will feel warmth, redness, controlled pinpoint bleeding, swelling, and MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris). These are all very expected and normal findings post-HALO treatment. Initially, you’ll notice the treated area may be extremely warm for 12-24 hours after your treatment. You will be provided with the appropriate home care products for the first few days. Cold compresses and a mineral water spray will provide some relief and much needed hydration to the treated area. Swelling is common and expected, can be relieved with cold compresses. To help with any pinpoint bleeding that may last up to 12 hours post treatment, you can apply damp, clean gauze to the skin.

The first night after your treatment, it is best to sleep in an upright or elevated position to help with swelling. The first morning post treatment is when swelling is more prevalent, especially under the eyes. Swelling may last 2-4 days.

Redness generally increases in intensity for the first few days after your treatment with day 3 usually being the most intense. Redness can persist for up to 7 days. It is important to focus on healing your skin during this time. Only gentle cleansers, hydrators and mineral SPF are recommended. It is also mandatory important that you avoid direct sun exposure.

Lastly, MENDS will appear on the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment. Theses appear in the treated area as tiny dark spots with a bronze appearance. These are a normal part of the healing process. It is the newly regenerated skin that is appearing to replace the damaged, aged tissue that was resurfaced. Your skin will also be very dry and feel like sandpaper before it begins to flake and peel off. It is important to keep your skin well moisturized to support the healing process and let the healing process occur naturally. Do not pick or scratch at any peeling skin or use a washcloth or any other abrasive device.

Below are images from one of our patient’s healing process post-HALO. While she did experience quite significant swelling, she made sure to follow her nurse’s post-care instructions and by day 6 she was feeling herself again. The HALO is the only resurfacing laser that delivers all of the dramatic results, but with minimal downtime.

CARING FOR YOUR SKIN POST-HALO

The care of your skin post-treatment is very important. You can return to normal activities once the skin has healed, but for the first 24 hours it is imperative that you keep your skin protected according to the post-care instructions provided. Keep in mind your skin will also begin to peel after the first 24 hours, but you will be able to wear makeup at that time – and mineral makeup is preferred. A daily mineral SPF is a must.

You will see initial results between day 2 and 5 of your HALO treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest improvement in the first 2 to 3 weeks. Remember to protect your investment with medical grade skin care products. Maintenance treatments may be recommended, as directed by your aesthetic nurse provider.

A HALO Resurfacing Laser Facial is one of the best investments in your skin. The incredible initial results you’ll see instantly from the treatment is just the tip of the iceberg — for years you will reap the benefits of just a single HALO service.
