Both men and women will experience pigmentation throughout their lifetime due to genetic factors, sun damage and aging. SKN BAR Rx offers advanced lasers, skin treatments, and products to effectively treat pigmentation, aging and more.
What is broad band light (bbl)?
BBL (Broad Band Light) laser treatments, also known as photofacials, are known to be the most powerful type of intense pulsed light (IPL) laser technology available today. At SKN Bar RX, we offer the Sciton Forever Young BBL Laser. This laser is a non-invasive laser that uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths, or light energy, to penetrate the skin’s surface to boost collagen and eliminate pigmented skin cells, while enhancing and brightening your overall complexion. The laser’s intense pulsed light also targets melanin in the skin, helping to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, age spots, and sun damage.
This laser treatment is commonly done on the face, chest, neck, arms and hands to treat a variety of concerns including:
- Sun Damage, freckles and age spots
- Broken capillaries and vessels
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Loose or sagging skin
- Dull Skin
- Uneven skin tone
BBL changes the aging process of the skin at a cellular level. In this 2012 study, research shows that after one BBL treatment, gene expression was restored back to the expression level of youthful skin. For more information on how BBL works to treat aging, click here.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SCITON FOREVER YOUNG BBL LASER?
The Sciton Forever Young BBL laser is a minimally-invasive treatment that offers numerous benefits, including:
1.Non-surgical procedure
Unlike surgical treatments like facelifts or brow lifts, Sciton Forever Young BBL laser does not require incisions, anesthesia, or lengthy recovery periods.
2. Safe for all skin types
The laser’s advanced technology is safe for most skin types. Typically, Fitzpatrick I-IV.
3. Improved skin texture
The laser’s light energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, resulting in improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity.
4. Reduced signs of aging
With Sciton Forever Young BBL laser treatment, you can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage.
5. Minimal downtime
The procedure requires no downtime, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment.
THE PROCEDURE:
A BBL treatment is usually performed in under an hour. During a BBL photo facial, you can expect to feel a warm tingling sensation. Afterwards, your skin may appear red and/or swollen, similar to a sunburn, which usually only lasts a few hours. In the following weeks after your BBL treatment, you should notice pigment lifting, rising to the surface of the skin and flaking off. Do note that mild peeling may occur, and pigment may appear darker before it fades and disappears. This is a completely normal stage of broad band light therapy.
PREPARING FOR A BBL TREATMENT
If you’re preparing for an upcoming BBL treatment, it is important to follow these steps to ensure a safe procedure and healing process.
before treatment
Avoid:
– Sun exposure for 4-6 weeks
– Self tanning products for 2 weeks
– Waxing and Chemical Peels for 1 week
– Products with retinol, salicylic acid and glycolic acid for 1 week
after treatment
Avoid:
– Hot temperatures and sweating for 48 hours
– Sun exposure for 4-6 weeks
– Exfoliants, topical acne treatments and scented skincare products
– Hot or cold water when facial cleansing (opt for luke warm temperature)
RESULTS:
Immediate results are seen after a single BBL treatment, with more dramatic changes occurring after a few days or weeks from your first treatment. Continuing these treatments as a series spaced between one month apart will provide you with the most significant improvements, and repeating the treatment once or twice yearly will improve and maintain your results.
The licensed aesthetician performing the procedure will provide you with an in-depth skin analysis and recommend how many BBL treatments are needed to achieve your aesthetic goals, which is dependent on skin type, condition and desired results.
