As an aesthetician at SKN BAR RX, we believe that the way your skin looks is 20% from professional skin treatments and 80% from what you are doing at home. Much like seeing a personal trainer, you will only see results once you incorporate the exercises shared during your appointment into your daily routine.
OVER THE COUNTER PRODUCTS
Over the counter products ONLY work on the outermost layer of the skin. According to law, they cannot penetrate nor correct your skin. So, common product brands such as Cetaphil, Aveeno and Cerave only sit on the surface of your skin. These products are known to use ‘filler’ ingredients such as parabens, dyes, water, fragrances, etc. Using filler ingredients is known to be much more cost-effective for product weight, but it significantly decreases the product’s potency. In some cases, they can even cause toxic side effects on the body. Next time you are shopping at the drug store, look at the ingredients on the back of the bottle. The first few ingredients listed are what make up most of the product’s formula, directly impacting what you are putting on your skin.
Cosmeceutical skin care products can only be purchased from a licensed provider. These products contain a much higher amount of active ingredients, so they can penetrate much deeper into the skin, producing visible results on your skin. Another huge benefit of cosmeceutical skin care is that it is backed by science to get the results that you want to achieve. The products need to undergo several tests and research prior to being put on the market for consumers. The scientific testing is extensive and typically will be done on each product within the product line. The purpose of this is to be able to scientifically prove that the product will perform and provide the same kind of results as it claims. Many times, you will see various photos depicting before and after baseline results against one, two, or three months of product usage associated with these skin care product lines.

THE ULTRA AT-HOME REGIME
Ultra Gel Cleanser – This cleanser will make you feel like you just had a professional grade facial leaving behind fresh, clean, and healthy-looking skin. It is ideal for individuals with normal to oily skin. The product has a light lather and uses non-stripping ingredients such as aloe vera, cucumber, and oat kernel extracts in its formula which will help to soothe and condition the skin while gently cleansing away daily impurities and makeup.
Ultra Hydrating Skin Mist – The aroma is one of the best parts of this product, followed closely by the way it will make your skin feel after you use it. This skin mist works to hydrate, refresh, and plump your skin.
