We are thrilled to share with you more about our Aesthetician, Abby. Abby is treating patients at our Pewaukee location but is at Shorewood on Mondays. Abby specializes in HydraFacial, SkinPen and Clear & Brilliant.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Abby and getting to know more about her passions in the skincare industry and medspa and her out of the treatment room hobbies!
Q: Can You Share with Us a Brief Introduction About Yourself, Your Background, and Education?
My name is Abby and I am a Licensed Aesthetician that’s been practicing for 5 years. My passion for skincare started when I got out of high school. I was struggling with acne and self confidence. I didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin so I started dabbling into self-care practices and routines to help heal my acne. I looked at internal factors that could be causing the acne as well as treating it topically with what I knew at the time. I knew that if I could heal my own acne I could help others who are struggling do the same.
I decided to enroll in aesthetic school to fill my passion and love for helping others. I attended MATC in Mequon, Wisconsin and then following graduation took state boards to become a licensed aesthetician in the state of Wisconsin. After graduating, I landed a job in a medispa right away. I’ve been working in the medispa industry for 5 years.
Outside of aesthetics, I enjoy all things health and wellness. During the summer, you will find me rollerblading, going for hikes, meal prepping, making juices and smoothies, practicing self-care rituals and yoga.
Q: Which Services do You Specialize in at SKN BAR Rx?
I specialize in HydraFacial, SkinPen and Clear and Brilliant. These treatments provide little to no downtime with beautiful results. HydraFacial is a great pre–event facial to do or even before your big day. SkinPen and Clear and Brilliant are great for resurfacing the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin, shrink pores, improve skin radiance, reduce scarring, tighten pores and soften fine lines and wrinkles.
Q: what are some common concerns you address with clients?
Common skin concerns that I see day to day is chronic dehydration. Almost everyone is dehydrated. To help avoid dehydration you should start implementing more lemon water into your daily routine as well as a hyaluronic acid based moisturizer that will draw water to the skin. My favorite is Trio by SkinBetter Science.
I also see a lot of acne, scarring, and pigmentation. For acne, I love chemical peels such as our Brightening peels by Skin Medica, the new ZO Stimulator peel and HydraFacials. Scarring is permanent but we can significantly reduce the appearance of the scarring by treating it with SkinPen, Halo or Clear and Brilliant. Pigmentation can be hard and stubborn but with a good pigment inhibitor product like the Even Tone Correcting Serum by SkinBetter Science it will help to correct and prevent future sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

Do you have a favorite Animal? My favorite animals are definitely dogs
If you could travel anywhere right now where would it be? If I could travel anywhere right now I would go to Bali! I love that Bali is spiritual and centered around health and wellness.
What’s a food you can’t live without? Food I can’t live without are potatoes.
What do you do in your downtime? In my downtime I am cooking, reading, working out, hiking, and practicing self-care.
If you were stranded on an island and could only bring one skincare product with you what would it be? If I was stranded on an island and could only bring one skincare product it would be retinol. My favorite retinoid is the Clearing Serum by SkinBetter. I am oily and acne prone and it’s my absolute favorite for keeping the skin looking healthy and young while targeting acne at the same time. It’s a win win.
