We interviewed Riley to gather more extensive information about her journey as a service provider. Throughout the interview, we asked Riley a series of questions to help us better understand her journey that led her to become such a valuable member of the SKN BAR Rx team.
Q: Can You Share with Us a Brief Introduction About Yourself, Your Background, and Education?
My name is Riley Lahey-Bristol, and I am a full-time Aesthetician at the SKN BAR Rx Shorewood location. I started studying aesthetics in 2019 and have always had a passion in skin. For as long as I can remember, I was obsessed with products, ingredients and connecting the dots on how different skin types react with specific ingredients. I never questioned whether or not I wanted to be an aesthetician, the question was when.
The pandemic hit in the midst of my education, and though it created some obstacles in school and life in general, it did not stop me and my hard work. I went to school in downtown Chicago for a year and graduated with 750 hours of training, which is almost double what the state of Wisconsin requires, so the transition was almost effortless.
During that transition period, I took many specific online education courses to prepare for the medical side of aesthetics, including courses in:
- Scion Laser
- Dermaplaning
- Clear + Brilliant
- Skin Analysis
During this time, SKN BAR Rx also gave me a full year of extensive hands-on and online training for every service we offer here. I believe education is the most important part for an aesthetician to keep up on. This rapidly growing industry is constantly changing and by keeping up with trends and new products and treatments, I am better able to educate and treat my patients.
Q: Which Services do You Specialize in at SKN BAR Rx?
I am well versed in skin treatments, chemical peels and laser aesthetics. I work a lot with peels, dermaplaning, hydrafacial, clear+brilliant, microneedling and laser hair removal. My main specialties include providing advanced skin care regimens and treatments plans for specific skin concerns and dual treatments such as hydraclear (hydrafacial and clear+brilliant).
Q: what are some common concerns you address with clients?
The most common concern I deal with clients is congestion/acne prone skin. By doing a thorough skin analysis, I am able to help determine the root cause of inflammation to guide my patients to clear, radiant skin. For some, the solution may be adding specialized medical-grade skincare and/or skin treatments that help support and strengthen the skin’s barrier, while others may need a slight change in diet. No matter where you are at in your skin journey, I’m here to lead you down the easiest and quickest path to clear skin!
Q: WHAT SHOULD PATIENTS KNOW WHEN RESEARCHING VARIOUS SKIN CONCERNS?
When researching any new treatments or products, always keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different and what may work for one person, may not work for another. Trail and error is real, and it can take time to find the perfect routine for specific to you. Also, never believe everything you read on the internet. Sites can over react about a treatments pain level, downtime, and efficiency, often times going against scientific research, tests and studies. It is important to set up a consultation with your aesthetician to get any questions or concerns about a treatment squared away so you can be fully educated and informed on your skin’s health.
Q: TELL US SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU!
Do you have a favorite Animal? I love Weiner dogs (miniature) and I have 2 myself named Vienna and Irwin.
What’s a food you can’t live without? Mac & Cheese is definitely my guilty pleasure! I’d probably eat it everyday if I could.
What do you do in your downtime? I love trying new restaurants and cafes around Milwaukee, WI! I love the variety of food MKE has to offer, as my food styles are constantly changing. When I’m not out and about, you can catch me enjoying my new apartment enjoying the homebody lifestyle.
