Pregnancy-Safe Skincare: Best Treatments & Products

Congratulations On This Exciting Chapter!

Pregnancy brings many changes into your life and can lead you to rethink your skincare routine. You want to continue caring for your skin while being mindful of using safe, effective products for both you and your baby. At SKN Bar Rx, we offer a variety of pregnancy-safe skincare options so you can continue your skincare journey with results-driven products. In this guide, we will walk you through which services are safe while highlighting ingredients to avoid during this time.

What Services Can I Get?

CONSULTATIONS:

A consultation at SKN Bar Rx is the perfect place to start. Here, one of our licensed estheticians will begin by capturing images of your skin using our skin analysis device and reviewing the results with you in detail. During this visit, we will also go over your current skincare routine and any concerns you may have.

From there, we can create a personalized, pregnancy-safe skincare plan designed to support your skin throughout pregnancy and beyond. If you are considering continuing treatments after baby, we also recommend scheduling a follow-up consultation after delivery, as some treatments may not be recommended during nursing. Timing will depend on your specific goals and treatment plan.

Our team at SKN Bar Rx will support you every step of the way to ensure your skincare and treatment plan remains safe, effective, and tailored to your needs before, during, and after pregnancy.

MICRODERMABRASION:

This exfoliating and resurfacing treatment is a great choice for pregnant clients looking to refresh and renew their skin. Microdermabrasion gently polishes the skin’s surface and encourages healthy cell turnover, which allows your skin to better absorb skincare products.

After your treatment, your skin will be left feeling smoother and more radiant with no downtime required. This service is considered pregnancy-safe because it uses a gentle suction process with natural diamond tips to remove the outer layer of dead skin, without any invasive techniques or serum infusions. It is a simple yet effective treatment that helps you achieve a refreshed glow.

DERMAPLANING:

Dermaplaning is another great addition for clients looking for a pregnancy-safe skincare option. This treatment uses an exfoliating blade to gently remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair from the face, creating a smooth, youthful, and radiant complexion. This process helps improve product penetration and overall skin texture.

SKN BAR RX SIGNATURE FACIAL:

Our Signature Facial incorporates either a lactic or mandelic peel from Ultraceuticals, depending on which option is best suited for your skin needs. Both peels are considered pregnancy-safe and are trusted treatments for many of our SKN Bar Rx clients. These gentle yet effective peels help rejuvenate the skin by addressing congestion, supporting detoxification, and promoting healthy skin turnover for a brighter, more refined complexion.

RENEWAL PEEL FACIAL:

This facial features the Ultraceuticals PHA peel, which is considered safe to use during pregnancy. It is a great option if you are looking for a quick, no-downtime treatment to refresh and restore your skin.

Formulated with PHA, a skin-identical acid known for its gentle resurfacing benefits, this peel is suitable for all skin types. It works to improve overall tone and texture, reduce mild sun damage, and refine the appearance of pores, leaving your skin feeling smoother, softer, and more refined.

SERVICES TO BE CAUTIOUS WITH

HYDRAFACIAL:

Because the HydraFacial includes a variety of serums and exfoliating agents, we recommend sticking with the Signature HydraFacial for our pregnant clients. Our Deluxe and Platinum options often incorporate additional boosters and serums that are not considered pregnancy-safe. You can rest assured that you will still achieve glowing results with the Signature HydraFacial, as it uses gentle, low concentrations of salicylic acid.

At SKN BAR Rx, we provide services that are pregnancy-safe, but we still strongly recommend receiving your doctor’s approval before proceeding with any skincare treatments or products during pregnancy and nursing.

Pregnancy-Safe Skincare Ingredients:

At SKN BAR Rx, we also love the Ultraceuticals cosmeceutical skincare line, since most products in the line can be used in pregnancy-safe skincare (excluding the Ultra A range).

What Ingredients Should I Avoid?

With so many rules and steps to follow during pregnancy, it can be stressful trying to determine which skincare products you can and cannot use. To simplify this, we’ve listed common skincare ingredients that should be avoided during pregnancy:

As always, please review all skincare products and treatments with your doctor as well. We also encourage you to take the first step by scheduling a skincare consultation with one of our licensed estheticians.
